Firefox 2
(Mon, May 15, 2006)
This preview has some preview of Firefox 2 (the browser, not the Clint Eastwood movie where he steals a RU fighter jet and has to think in Russian in order to fly it, which is really hard to do, even for Russians). The best part: a new, non-orange icon. I hope they keep that. I hate orange. And people who leave alarm clocks set to go off at 4am in hotel rooms after they check out, I hate those guys.
Google Notebook
(Tue, May 16, 2006)
I know it's wrong, but I just can't help it, I'm weak for the convenience, I love Google. How could I live otherwise? Check out the new Google Notebook. How could I live without it now? And the Trends. I need to snap my fingers in front of my eyes to halt the trance for a moment.
Big AJAX
(Wed, May 17, 2006)
Following this story about Linspire developing an AJAX-based OS (which I'm not sure I get really -- isn't a web browser already an AJAX-based OS?) led me to these Ajax13 dudes. They really want to help me in my OS divorce proceedings. They've gota word processor, an XLS spreadsheet viewer, a drawing tool, a music player, even a video editing utility. [EDIT:] It all kind of sucks, but the direction is important work.

On the other hand, AJAX is really just a hack around existing web specs. What's really needed is a new set of specs that makes all this much easier. Which would have maybe been possible ten years ago.
It's too bad she won't live!

Blade Runner does! This is tremendous! The long awaited "Final Cut" version will finally be assembled -- see here -- and released to DVD this Sept. Remarkable! The special-edition DVD will include the new "Final Cut", the 1992 "Director's Cut", the crappy 1982 U.S. theatrical version, and the 1982 international theatrical version (the so-called "Criterion Edition"). And then -- and then! -- a 2007 25th Anniversary theatrical run of the Final Cut version. Outstanding!
